Each year, Hospice Orillia hosts two memorial events; the Garden of Remembrance and Candles of Remembrance. Each event is unique in its own way, providing community members with the opportunity to come together to remember those no longer with us. While we have seen a shift in how these events are presented over the past 3 years, one thing that has remained steadfast is our communities’ commitment to surround each other with love and comfort during these difficult times.
The 2023 Garden of Remembrance will take place Thursday, June 22nd at 6:30 pm at Tudhope Park in Orillia.
In an effort to embrace community connection, this event will be offered as an in-person, intimate memorial event – we won’t be offering an online version this year.
The interactive ceremony will include music, poetry, readings and more importantly a time to reflect and be with others who have experienced loss. We’ve changed the location to accommodate the City of Orillia’s construction and as such there will not be a planting component this year. We will be offering our guests a plant to take away, to plant and nurture in their own space. The greenhouse team, who over the years has been an integral part of the ceremony, have graciously offered to take plaques back to the Hospice Orillia Memorial Garden at Couchiching Beach Park and place them amongst the flowers for people to visit and enjoy for the season.
To help our team with the planning process for this year’s ceremony, we are asking the community to RSVP by completing the form below. We hope to see you on June 22nd.
