2020 Orillia Hike for Hospice Goes Virtual
The 2020 Orillia Hike for Hospice is going virtual! Hospice Orillia and Mariposa House Hospice are once again collaborating on the annual Hike for Hospice to help ensure that the communities of Orillia and surrounding areas have access to the Hospice Palliative care they deserve!
“We’re thrilled to once again partner with Mariposa House Hospice on the 2020 Hike for Hospice. All funds raised stay in this community and will be used to support the visiting hospice programs and grief and bereavement supports led by Hospice Orillia as well as the operations of the new five-bed residential hospice.
By walking, we continue to raise awareness about hospice palliative care and promote the exceptional work of those involved in providing that care. This year the Hike for Hospice will take place during the entire month of October. Participants are invited to walk, run, bike or hike on the day of their choice, or multiple days if they are up to the challenge! Their hikes can take them to Scout Valley Loop Trail, Grant’s Woods, Couchiching Beach Park, Tudhope park or a local garden. The possibilities are endless!
“Mariposa House Hospice is proud to collaborate with Hospice Orillia on this event each year. Mariposa is a 5-bed residential facility scheduled to open in late 2020 to offer end-of-life palliative care to the North Simcoe communities of Orillia, Severn, Oro-Medonte, Ramara, and Chippewas of Rama First Nation. There are a variety of ways you can support the Hike for Hospice; participate in the hike, post a sign in your window (available to download online), make a donation online and post a photo of you and your team on your hike. However you decide to support the hike remember you are helping to ensure that Hospice Orillia and Mariposa House Hospice are able to continue to provide the services that your community.
